Every April 6, we celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, a date that highlights the role of sport as a driver of social change. This year, the theme invites us to reflect on an idea that is part of our daily work at the Rafa Nadal Foundation: sport builds bridges and breaks down barriers.

In an increasingly fragmented world, sport stands out as a unique tool to foster connection between people, promote inclusion and build environments of peaceful coexistence.
Through its universal language, capable of transcending cultural and social boundaries, sport connects communities, brings generations together and creates spaces where respect, solidarity and dialogue take centre stage.
This approach is deeply aligned with the work we carry out across all Rafa Nadal Foundation projects. Every day, in our centres and programmes, we use sport as an educational tool that not only promotes healthy habits but also supports the personal and social development of children and young people.
In this context, sport becomes a space where barriers are broken: social, cultural and gender barriers. Through sports practice, we work to reduce inequalities and create opportunities where they are most needed.

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace also highlights the importance of promoting evidence-based initiatives and best practices that demonstrate the real impact of sport in key areas such as health, gender equality and the creation of more just and inclusive societies.
In line with the 2030 Agenda, sport is presented as a strategic tool to move towards a more equitable future, where no one is left behind.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation, we reaffirm today, and every day, our commitment to these values. We firmly believe in the power of sport to transform lives, build bridges between people and create a more inclusive, respectful and peaceful society.
