5th edition of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre concludes, in aid of the foundation

The final phase of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre’s fifth edition took place from 19th to 22nd September. 32 young tennis players took part in the Masters tournament, which was held at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar in Manacor (Mallorca). The Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapre is a charity circuit, will all funds going towards the educational and sporting projects carried out by the Rafa Nadal Foundation in Spain and India.

Rafael Nadal was present at the draw ceremony and the prize-giving and had some advice for the players, telling them: “I remember my years participating in junior tournaments as some of the best of my life; I hope that you are also enjoying this experience thanks to the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre. Good luck to all of you, and enjoy it; that’s the most important thing,” he added.

Alongside the tennis competition, the Masters saw a range of activities carried out to promote sporting values, an essential pillar of the circuit and one that makes it stand out from the rest. One example was that 4 of the 32 participants qualified by virtue of being the winners of the ‘Trofeo de Valores’, which rewarded them for putting into practice sporting values such as a good attitude and positive behaviour.

In the run up to the Masters, this fifth edition of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre was comprised of six tournaments, held in different Spanish cities throughout the year; Barcelona, Sevilla, Valldoreix (Barcelona), Zaragoza, Alicante and Madrid. In total, 2,500 players signed up, and 1,500 took part. The circuit also had an international flavour, with participants from 51 different nationalities taking part.
