Study and Play: $100.000 in scholarships to combine sport and study in the USA
On the 18th July, a ceremony was held in Barcelona to award the Study and Play scholarships, with I-Con Sports. This year, the Rafa Nadal Foundation has provided scholarships to the value of $102,800 to 22 young Spanish athletes who wish to combine higher education with sporting careers. They will have the opportunity to continue their studies at universities in the United States, one of the few countries in which it is possible to combine both activities.
During the three years that the Foundation has been carrying out the project, it has awarded scholarships to around 50 young athletes from a variety of sports, under the umbrella of the ‘Study and Play’ program.
The award ceremony, which took place at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, saw all the beneficiaries and their families in attendance, alongside Maria Francisca Perelló, the Rafa Nadal Foundation’s Director of Projects, and Marc Becker, the Director of I-Con Sports, a Spanish company dedicated to incorporating athletes to American universities.
“Ahead of you is an experience that will mark you forever; an opportunity that few people have, and that will undoubtedly enrich you and make you grow in every sense”, Maria Francisca Perelló told the recipients.
