Olympic athletes and vulnerable children, together at the 3rd edition of Beyond Sport Day
The Rafa Nadal Foundation and Telefónica celebrated the 3rd edition of Beyond Sport Day (Más allá del Deporte), part of their Podium program, which took place at the tennis player’s organization center for vulnerable children located in Palma. Several athletes participated in the event, such as Nuria Cabanillas, Olympic gold medalist at rhythmic gymnastics in Atlanta ‘96, with the objective to bring Olympic sports and its values to the children.
Other athletes like gymnast Polina Berezina (a promising young Spanish Olympian and participant in Telefónica’s Podium program) and the boxer Jennifer Miranda (nine times world champion and 9th position at Korea’s 2015) also joined the almost 70 children who were participating in the Summer School at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Center.
There were three main acts: a conference about sport values; rhythmic gymnastics and boxing exhibitions, and the practice sessions of these two disciplines by the children, who were lead by the athletes. “Values like effort and perseverance are the tools that will help you to achieve your goals”, Jennifer Miranda said to the children.
