The Rafa Nadal Foundation and Special Olympics Spain create the “More Than Just Tennis” programme
The programme aims to promote the integration and development of children and young people with intellectual disabilities through tennis.
Last Saturday 23rd July, the “official serve” took place at the Manacor Tennis Technical Centre for the Rafa Nadal Foundation and Special Olympics Spain joint programme that began this year.
“More Than Just Tennis” is the result of collaboration between both organisations and aims to foster the integration and development of children and young people with intellectual disabilities through the promotion and practice of tennis.
The Rafa Nadal Foundation, accompanied by the Special Olympics in this important project, hopes to give many children and young people in Spain an opportunity to learn, enjoy, and benefit from the experience of this sport.
The tennis star Rafa Nadal, participated actively in the event. After a training session with the young athletes he handed out gifts and prizes to all the participants.
More than 25 young athletes and their families, from seven different associations from various parts of Spain, enjoyed this exciting day of activities with the presence of Rafa Nadal and the Presidents of both foundations, Ana Maria Parera and Gaizka Ortuzar.
This event forms part of the cooperation agreement established between the Rafa Nadal Foundation and Special Olympics Spain, which plans to implement similar activities throughout Spain over the next three years.
