A few days ago, a new partnership was signed between the Rafa Nadal Foundation and United Postcode Lotteries, a private lottery company in the Netherlands. The mission of the company is to raise funds for solidarity organisations, publicise their work, and support new initiatives.
The Rafa Nadal Foundation received 1 million euros from Nationale Postcode Loterij (the Dutch Postcode Lottery). Over the next three years this donation will go towards the “Integration and Sport” programme which is being developed jointly with SOS Children's Villages.
Last February, Ana Maria Parera and Claudia Blasi received the cheque at an annual solidarity event celebrated by the lottery companies. The cheque was presented by Marieke van Schaik, Managing Director of the Dutch Postcode Lottery.
The Dutch Postcode Lottery, which first began to raise funds for charity associations in 1989, is the oldest charity lottery company in the Netherlands. Around 50% of the money raised from the lottery is distributed among 80 charitable organisations who work in the areas of environmental protection, development cooperation, and human rights, including the well-known organisations WWF, UNICEF, Amnesty International, SOS Children’s Villages, and the Clinton Foundation. In 2010, the Dutch Postcode Lottery distributed a total of 270 million euros.
