This weekend, the I National Meeting “More than Tennis” by Special Olympics Spain and Rafa Nadal Foundation has shown the importance of sport as a form of personal development and social integration for people with intellectual disabilities. In the event, about a hundred athletes of Special Olympics from different points of Spain have played 80 games, exhibiting their skills with the racquet, and demonstrating tennis practice goes far beyond sport.
In the opening ceremony participated: Juan Antonio Samaranch Salisachs, President of Special Olympics España; Ana Maria Parera, President of Rafa Nadal Foundation; Gaizka Ortuzar, Executive President of Special Olympics Spain, and Álvaro Entrecanales, executive commite member of Special Olympics España. By Samaranch, “after almost 3 years, “More than Tennis” is a reality and an enormous success that we hope will continue for as a great support for many young athletes”.
On the other hand, Ana Maria Parera, said: “This weekend the people of “More than Tennis” have given us a great lesson about personal achievement, effort and fellowship. Through sport we can, and we see it every day on our Foundation projects, working to get children and young people develop positive skills meet the challenges of daily life and in relation to their environment.”
Participants also counted with a Bubble Pure Air installed on the enclosure. It is a mobile area where it was possible breathes fresh air to 99,995% in continuous regeneration and free of particulate pollutants, viral agents, bacteriological and allergenic.
