On Monday the 26th of January, the annual United Postcode Lottery Charity Gala (Goed Geld Gala) was held in Amsterdam. During the gala, the lottery announced that thanks to its 2.5 million participants, who bought more than 4 million lottery tickets collectively, a total of 312 million euros will be distributed to non-governmental organizations in 2015.
United Postcode Lottery has been raising funds since 1989 and is the oldest charity lottery company in the Netherlands. Around 50% of the money raised from the lottery is distributed among 92 charitable organizations who work in the areas of environmental protection, development cooperation, and human rights, including the well-known organizations WWF, UNICEF, Amnesty International or SOS Children’s Villages. The Rafa Nadal Foundation is also a beneficiary since their agreement in 2010.
