The Rafa Nadal Foundation has launched a new educational project named Study and Play, which will provide young athletes with the possibility to combine high-level training and competition with studies at North American universities. This new project will be carried out in parallel with the four already active sport and education programs run by the Rafa Nadal Foundation in Spain and India.
In collaboration with I-Con Sports, the organization will offer the tools to pursue a university scholarship, taking into account both the academic and sporting level of the applicants. In this sense, the Rafa Nadal Foundation will ensure that more athletes – regardless of the sport they practice – are able to benefit from scholarships, helping those that do not receive the full scholarship from the university and minimising the costs for those students that need most financial assistance.
“We have chosen to implement this new program because it incorporates three of the fundamental pillars of the Rafa Nadal Foundation: education, sport and youth,” explains Ana María Parera, President of the organization. “The university system in the United States encourages a combination of high level sport with studies, and the chance to enjoy this experience will be, without a doubt, a great incentive for many youngsters from our country”, she added.
