Centro de alto rendimiento Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar

NEST

NEST is a grant programme with which the Rafa Nadal Foundation continues to create opportunities, this time for tennis players with promising futures.

NEST springs from Rafael Nadal’s desire to help talented young people who may form the next generation of tennis players, affording them the means necessary to maximise their chances of success.

Why is the programme called NEST? Because we want it to be a nest for the grant winners, where they can grow, learn and develop to not only become great tennis players, but also people academically prepared to successfully face the future.

The project

The NEST grant programme is run by the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, a high-performance centre for young tennis players. Those selected to join the programme have the opportunity to enter this renowned academy, where they pursue and enhance both their sports and academic careers.

Located in Manacor (Mallorca), the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar combines tennis with a high-level academic education, providing each young player with the tools to become a professional tennis player without having to leave school.

Aware that only a few can make the leap to professional tennis, both the Foundation and the Academy aim to train people in the values that have been and remain rooted in the career of Rafael Nadal, with the conviction that this will help them to succeed in any sphere of their lives.

Beneficiaries

NEST programme grants are aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 18 (born between 1999 and 2003) from any country in the world who have shown potential to become professional tennis players in recent years.

Requirements

Potential beneficiaries of a NEST grant must meet the following set of sports requirements:

· If born in 1999 or 2000, they may benefit if they rank among the top 100 in the ITF Juniors world ranking.
· If born from 2001 to 2003, they may benefit if they are among the top 20 in the Tennis Europe ranking if they are European. Equivalent rankings from other continents will also be considered: North and South America, Asia, Oceania and Africa.

In addition, the athlete will have to be studying in the school year corresponding to his or her age, meaning that they cannot have repeated any school year.

If the aforementioned requirements are met, the technical team at Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar may individually evaluate and assess applicants for the grant, taking into account their tennis level and potential, their academic situation, their ability and the resources available.

Later, the Rafa Nadal Foundation will select the tennis players to finally receive a grant based on the results of the evaluations.
