We celebrate World Children’s Day committed to child welfare

November 20th marks a special day on our calendar: World Children’s Day. It’s a reminder that every child, regardless of where they were born, deserves access to health, education, and protection.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation, we embrace this cause, committing ourselves to safeguarding the youngest and promoting their rights, providing safe spaces for them to be and thrive.

This day prompts us to reflect on the pivotal role each of us plays in society. From families to educators, healthcare workers, government leaders, religious figures, political and business leaders, civil society, and the media – we all have a crucial role in ensuring child welfare.

Our commitment aligns with international and national laws advocating for children’s well-being. The Universal Declaration clearly states that every child deserves special protection and opportunities to develop in a healthy, free, and dignified environment.

In Spain, the Organic Law 8/2021, enacted on June 4th, marks a historic milestone by introducing several sections directly impacting sports and all its stakeholders, including institutions, federations, clubs, entities, professionals, and volunteers.

It’s a fundamental ethical and legal responsibility for sports entities, clubs, and individuals associated with sports to commit to protecting and appropriately treating children. It’s crucial that they fulfill this obligation ethically and legally.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation, we’ve established a policy aimed at protecting and ensuring the welfare of children involved in our projects.

We’ve trained our staff through educational programs, appointed a specific protection officer, developed a code of conduct, and established a protocol to address any arising situations.

Today, we advocate for and celebrate children’s rights, fostering an environment that promotes their well-being. Together, through dialogue and action, we can build a world where every child can thrive, learn, and grow in a safe and healthy environment.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation, we join this cause with enthusiasm and determination.

Let’s celebrate World Children’s Day together and move towards a future of quality for all boys and girls!
