Rafa Nadal Foundation opens a new center in Madrid for children and families affected by the Covid-19 crisis<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are announcing the creation of a\u00a0Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Madrid<\/strong>, where we will assist vulnerable children and families who have been highly affected by the\u00a0Covid-19 crisis<\/strong>. This expansion of our work will be possible thanks to the donation we have received from\u00a0Endesa<\/strong>, which once again shows its\u00a0commitment to the fight against the social impacts of the pandemic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new center in Madrid will be the third\u00a0Rafa Nadal Foundation Center<\/a>, after the one in Palma \u2014launched in 2014\u2014, and the one in Valencia \u2014opened in 2019\u2014. In these centers we carry out a\u00a0comprehensive program complementary to school education<\/strong>, which includes three areas of attention to children:\u00a0sports, educational and psychosocial<\/strong>. The objective is to provide children with the necessary tools and support to strengthen their\u00a0social integration<\/strong>\u00a0and improve their\u00a0personal and educational development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Madrid we will focus on\u00a0minimizing the negative impact that the pandemic<\/strong>\u00a0has had on vulnerable groups, through measures based on guaranteeing equal opportunities and inclusion. In addition to care for children, the organization will offer\u00a0psychological support to the families<\/strong>, as well as guidance for unemployment situations and\u00a0help in managing procedures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madrid\u00a0<\/strong>is one of the communities with the highest rate of inequality and\u00a0child poverty<\/strong>, besides registering a high incidence of the coronavirus. The Rafa Nadal Foundation is\u00a0searching for a place<\/strong>\u00a0in which to create the new center and it is evaluating locations in different districts, taking into account variables such as the\u00a0unemployment rate<\/strong>, the number of\u00a0children living<\/strong>\u00a0in the area or the presence of\u00a0other social and sports resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe situation caused by the pandemic is depriving many children of their right to grow up free and happy, to\u00a0play, learn and interact among equals<\/strong>\u201d, explains\u00a0Mar\u00eda Francisca Perell\u00f3<\/strong>, director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation. \u201cWe are grateful for Endesa’s involvement to face this reality and their effort to promote social and health initiatives, which today, more than ever, are of vital importance\u201d, she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of the pandemic,\u00a0Endesa\u00a0<\/strong>has taken various initiatives forward aiming at\u00a0countering the effects of the crisis on groups in vulnerable situations<\/strong>. The donation made to the Rafa Nadal Foundation is part of their corporate social responsibility plan, it is worth \u20ac 25 million and intended to alleviate the health and social effects of Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are proud to open a center in Madrid along with the Rafa Nadal Foundation,\u00a0so nobody is left out<\/strong>\u201d, says Jos\u00e9 Bogas, CEO of Endesa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is\u00a0the\u00a0second donation that Endesa<\/strong>\u00a0has made to the Rafa Nadal Foundation<\/a>.
