THE RAFA NADAL FOUNDATION AND UNESCO PRESENT THEIR ALLIANCE ON “INTERNATIONAL SPORTS DAY”<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of International Sports Day, the Rafa Nadal Foundation and UNESCO make public their agreement of intent within the framework of the Fit for Life program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

  • The Rafa Nadal Foundation and UNESCO sign this letter of intent with the aim of using sport in favor of health, education and equality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    • The Fit for Life program is UNESCO’s flagship sport-based project to support inclusive and integrated policy making and improve the well-being of young people around the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n

      • Driven by a global compact between partners, Fit for Life uses sport and its impact measurement to tackle physical inactivity, mental health issues and inequality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n

        The Rafa Nadal Foundation and UNESCO make public their commitment to promoting sport as a tool for social transformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The Rafa Nadal Foundation decides to partner with UNESCO through its Fit for Life<\/strong> project, a flagship sport-based program designed to accelerate recovery from COVID-19, support inclusive and integrated policy-making, and improve the well-being of young people from all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        By strengthening intersectoral cooperation, increasing participation in sport and documenting the impact of the intervention, Fit for Life will drive systemic and behavioral change, necessary to promote social cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Within the framework of this commitment, Gabriela Ramos,<\/strong> Assistant Director-General of UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences area, and Mar\u00eda Francisca Perell\u00f3<\/strong>, Director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation, have signed a letter of intent that commits both entities to work together using sport to achieve a better world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The Fit for Life<\/strong> program has five goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        1. 1- Use the promotion of social values \u200b\u200bthrough sport to empower young people, promote equality and foster socio-emotional resilience<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. 2- Increase participation in sport and quality physical education to reduce inactivity and chronic diseases (physical and mental)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Support the development of inclusive and quality sports policies that promote health, education and equality<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. 3- Support teachers and coaches so that they can implement quality sports education programs focused on students<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. 4- Develop empirical evidence to support investments in sport as a recovery accelerator after COVID-19<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          According to Gabriela Ramos<\/strong>, \u201cUnesco is a house that promotes sport to build fairer and more inclusive societies, in which human dignity is not limited. We want to achieve a humanity where empathy, solidarity and justice prevail.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          According to Mar\u00eda Francisca Perell\u00f3<\/strong>, “the Rafa Nadal Foundation works with the firm commitment to accompany girls, boys and young people in vulnerable situations through sport and firmly believes in its great transformative power.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
