New Training on Child and Adolescent Protection at the Rafa Nadal Foundation

New Training on Child and Adolescent Protection at the Rafa Nadal Foundation

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation, we continue to strengthen our commitment to the protection of children and adolescents through ongoing training for all the professionals who are part of the organization.

Recently, we held a new training session led by Iñaki Alonso, director of Kunina, who has more than 21 years of experience working on projects related to children’s rights.

Throughout his career, Iñaki has worked in the prevention of violence against children, the support of boys and girls who are victims of violence, research, and policy advocacy with institutions. He specializes in different forms of violence against children, such as child sexual abuse, child pornography, human trafficking, and gender-based violence affecting children. He also has extensive experience in incorporating a child rights perspective into public and institutional policies.

In the field of sport, Iñaki is also the creator of the first comprehensive child protection program implemented in a professional sports team in Spain.

For some time now, he has been supporting the Rafa Nadal Foundation in our work implementing protocols to prevent violence against children, in creating safe environments for the boys and girls who participate in our socio-educational activities, and in training related to the LOPIVI and other key tools to guarantee their well-being.

During the training, the importance of recognizing that there are many forms of violence against children was addressed, as well as the need to know how to identify them and, above all, prevent them from occurring. At the Foundation, we have a strong institutional response articulated through our Child Protection Policy and Framework, available on our website in the “Safe Space” section. This framework reflects the organization’s commitment to providing regular training for all professionals to keep knowledge up to date and strengthen good practices in this important area.

The training was attended by professionals from the Palma center team, as well as members of the Madrid team who traveled to Mallorca and colleagues from Valencia who joined online. The director of the Rafa Nadal Tour and the circuit’s Values Manager were also present, where protection measures and a specific communication channel have likewise been implemented to report any incident or concern.

In addition to working with professional teams, the Foundation promotes awareness among the children and families we serve, so they can identify situations of violence, feel safe reporting them, and know that they will be supported throughout the process.

We would like to thank all participants for their commitment and, especially, Iñaki Alonso for accompanying us once again.

The Rafa Nadal Foundation reaffirms its commitment to continue working consistently to ensure safe and protective spaces for children and adolescents.
