A Year of Transformation: Summary of the 2023-2024 School Year at the Rafa Nadal Foundation

The Rafa Nadal Foundation has established itself as a reference institution in the field of social transformation through sport.

We firmly believe in the power of sport to positively impact the development of minors and improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

During the 2023-2024 school year, we have continued our mission, providing support to thousands of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, and we are proud to share the achievements made through our various projects.

2023-2024 School Year:

Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers (CFRN)

The Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers are one of the pillars of our work. These centers are dedicated to the care of minors in vulnerable situations, offering sports activities, educational support, and psychosocial assistance. With a decade of experience, our centers are located in Palma, Valencia, and Madrid.

CFRN Palma

In Palma, we have attended to 271 children and adolescents during the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, we have worked with 119 adults and 192 families, indirectly impacting a total of 613 people. Through sports, educational, and psychosocial activities, we have provided a safe and enriching environment for these minors to develop fully.

CFRN Valencia

The Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Valencia has attended to 138 children and adolescents during the same period. We have also involved 64 adults and 98 families, reaching a total of 338 indirect beneficiaries. At this center, we have continued to promote the overall well-being of the minors through sports, educational programs, and psychosocial support tailored to their specific needs.

CFRN Madrid

In Madrid, the center has been a haven for 146 children and adolescents. Additionally, we have supported 87 adults and 112 families, indirectly benefiting 304 people. Through our activities, we have created a space where minors can grow, learn, and develop in a safe and positive environment.

Nadal Educational Tennis School (NETS)

The NETS project in Anantapur, India, managed in collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, combines regular tennis training with a comprehensive focus on education and health. During this school year, 255 children and adolescents have participated in tennis training, computer, and English classes, and have received daily nutritional supplements and annual complete medical check-ups. Additionally, we have a group of 17 young people with motor disabilities who train in wheelchair tennis, demonstrating that sport is inclusive and accessible to all.

More Than Tennis

More Than Tennis, developed in collaboration with Special Olympics, is our program dedicated to athletes with intellectual disabilities who regularly practice tennis in different schools across the country. This year, 29 schools have been active, with a total of 391 athletes. Additionally, we have organized the National More Than Tennis Meeting at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, where around 100 athletes and their coaches participated in a day of competition and camaraderie. This year, the More Than Tennis Case Study has also been published in collaboration with the University of Navarra, investigating the impact of sport on the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities.

Play All

Play All is a program that provides access to tennis and value-based education to children and adolescents from vulnerable neighborhoods in Barcelona. Thanks to the support of Nike and the collaboration of the Fundació Tennis Barcelona, we have attended to a total of 154 young people during the 2023-2024 school year. These participants are distributed across four schools located in El Raval, Carmel, Zona Franca, and Vall d’Hebrón, where they receive comprehensive training through sport.

Study&Play

The Study&Play program grants scholarships to talented students and athletes who wish to continue their education at universities in the United States. This year, we have awarded 48 scholarships, with an average value of 7,000 euros, totaling more than 340,000 euros in aid. These scholarships allow young beneficiaries to access educational institutions that match their profiles and economic needs, offering them a unique opportunity to develop their academic and athletic potential.

Rafa Nadal Foundation Awards

Our social initiative to support non-profit entities is manifested in the Rafa Nadal Foundation Awards. In its second edition, we received 325 applications for projects focused on education, sport, health and well-being, international cooperation, and social innovation. Of these applications, five projects were awarded a financial prize of 15,000 euros each at a gala held in Palma de Mallorca. We had the special presence of Rai Souza, winner of the special Fit For Life recognition awarded by UNESCO, highlighting the relevance of these awards in the social sphere.

Laureus Sport For Good Award

Thanks to all these active projects, the Rafa Nadal Foundation has been the winner of the Laureus Sport For Good Award 2024. This prestigious recognition is awarded annually to organizations that use sport as a tool for social transformation. This award not only acknowledges our work and dedication but also motivates us to continue working with more strength and commitment to achieve an even greater impact on the lives of many more young people.

Great Achievements and Progress for the Rafa Nadal Foundation in the 2023-2024 School Year

The 2023-2024 school year has been a year of great achievements and progress for the Rafa Nadal Foundation.

We have directly attended to more than 1,400 people through our five projects, and we have indirectly impacted around 3,000 people.

Our commitment to using sport as a tool for social transformation remains strong, and we will continue working with the same dedication in the years to come.

We bid farewell to this school year with the satisfaction of a job well done and the excitement of starting the 2024-2025 year in September. We are convinced that sport will continue to be a driving force for change and a source of opportunities for many young people in vulnerable situations.

Thank you to everyone who made this incredible year possible, and see you in the next school year!
