Activities for teenagers at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers in Palma de Mallorca, Valencia and Madrid we care for minors between the ages of 5 and 17 through sports, educational and psychosocial support activities.

In order for the intervention to have the best impact, we divide the minors by age and thus, the activities prepared by the team of professionals will be appropriate for each group.

In the case of adolescents, we pay special attention to a series of objectives, which we work on each year:

1- Reinforce a realistic and positive vision of themselves and their own possibilities.

2- Promote group co-responsibility.

3- Practice setting goals and learning to achieve them.

4- Identify which people around you can help you achieve your goals.

5- Guide them in their personal development and support them on any issue that worries them or about which they have doubts.

The Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers are safe spaces for young people to express their emotions, socialize with other adolescents with whom they have many things in common, learn, share opinions… etc.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Madrid, we recently organized a group workshop to strengthen cohesion among young people, with cooperative activities that force them to work together and improve their communication.

The objective of the activity is to build a tower between all the members of the group, who have to communicate through signs since it is not allowed to speak. Each of the participants receives a specific characteristic about the tower and must try to let the rest of the classmates know so that the final result contemplates all the premises together.

This is a very interesting exercise to foster tolerance among minors, promote a culture of effort, improve group cohesion, manage frustration and, of course, have fun.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Valencia we carried out an activity on the “myths of romantic love” with the intention of chatting with adolescents about some of the beliefs that exist in society and that sometimes lead us to maintain unhealthy relationships.

During the activity, we exposed a series of myths and discussed them one by one with the young people to improve the way in which they relate to each other and thus make them aware of some important aspects that will influence their development as adults.

The myth that “love can do everything”, the myth of “the better half”, the myth that “jealousy is a proof of love”, the myth of “exclusive attraction”…

They are all behaviors that have been instilled in us since we were little and that we have naturalized in our day to day and that sometimes make us suffer. For this reason, we wanted to discuss the issue with adolescents and thus be able to positively influence their growth and the construction of their affective relationships.

Despite being a difficult subject and for which minors sometimes feel suspicious or rejected, we have managed to create an atmosphere of participation and reflection together.

The Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers team always tries to be close to minors, offering them a broad point of view and a space to reflect and develop in a very important stage of life.

Thanks to all the young people who trust us, we will accompany you until you achieve a quality future.
